Proliferating in the Mediterranean and tropical regions, the fruit of Citrus sinensis is called “sweet orange” to distinguish it from “bitter orange” (Citrus aurantium). The cradle of this orange tree is located between the Himalayas and the south of China. It was the Portuguese who brought it around the year 1400. Small bush of common tough leaves in the low mountain of the Mediterranean region of North Africa. Its leaves are linear, coriaceous, resistant, with parallel edges rolled underneath.
